Estos textos electrónicos no pretenden ni mucho menos sustituir ni a los libros electrónicos comerciales ni por supuesto a los de papel de toda la vida que me da la impresión que hoy por hoy son los que hay que utilizar si se pretende aprender un idioma y si se pretende disfrutar leyendo un libro. Las próximas generaciones ya veremos... Hoy los aparatitos especiales para leer libros electrónicos "como si fueran de papel", (y normalmete escuchar MP3) valen lo mismo que un ordenador portátil. También está el problema de la diversidad de formatos en que se venden y la poca calidad de los textos o ediciones. Eso sí, tiene una gran capacidad de almacenamiento y de autonomía de batería.
La ventaja de tener el libro en formato electrónico aunque no esté muy correcto en cuanto a puntuación y presentación es que es muy fácil buscar el significado de las palabras en los diccionarios electrónicos que tengas instalados en tu ordenador o en Internet. Puede bastar con un clic sobre la palabra según la configuración o el diccionario. Me aseguran que todos los textos son de dominio publico y todo eso. Me gustaría de momento incluir a Shakesperare, Milton, Sterne, G. Elliot, Dickens, H. James, J. Conrad, J. Joyce... nada fácil pero interesante y abundante vocabulario y gran valor literario y cultural. Los iremos añadiendo poco a poco.
El formato es:
de OpenOffice.org (.odt) Open Office es libre y gratuita, fácil de descargar e instalar y abre o guarda documentos en casi todos los formatos incluidos MS-Word, WordPerfect, HTML o PDF; recuerda que con OpenOffice puedes pasar el documento a formato de Word, PDF, Pocket Word Mobile para PDA o cualqueir otro.
de Adobe (.pdf) algo mayor en tamaño y no manipulable a no ser que tengas el software de esa empresa (nada libre ni gratuito excepto el lector)
.txt o .html comprimido con zip para archivos muy grandes que no me puedo permitir en otros formato
Algunas librerías online tienen las obras en formatos muy propietarios y necesitan programas especiales (gratuitos casi todos pero no libres) que son una lata , registrarse, activarse... aparte del conocido formato pdf y de rar (no gratuito) está Microsoft Reader que tendrás que descargar para leer libros en formato .lit para PC de escritorio o para PDA: http://www.microsoft.com/reader/es/downloads/default.mspx
